Something about what is behind this painting:
Persephone, the mythological figure from Greek mythology, is often used as a symbol to explore themes of loss and grief through her story of abduction and return. Mathematically, one might compare her cyclical journey between the Underworld and the world above to a sine wave, which oscillates between peaks and troughs, much like the human experience of grief and recovery. Each period she spends in the Underworld symbolizes the deep descent into sorrow and mourning, while her return marks a period of renewal and hope. This cyclical pattern captures the essence of loss and grief as non-linear and recurrent, reminding us that these emotions come in waves, with moments of profound sadness interspersed with intervals of respite and healing.
